Allure Academy
Pandemic hair getting you down? Wanting to try your hand at a classic make-over? Learn the basics of hairdressing, skin care, and make-up application, including how face and head shape inform the cut, essential equipment, the "basic updo," and career options in the beauty industry. We will also explore international hair styling trends and the concept of beauty through a multi-cultural lens. This course will include online tutorials, visiting experts in the field, and hands-on experience.

American Sign Language Course
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for American Sign Language translators and interpreters will increase by at least 20% by 2029. Learn American Sign Language (ASL) to build your resume, open up future career paths, connect with friends and family, and develop new neural pathways! This course will utilize online learning modules completed in-person as a collaborative cohort.

Basic Automotive Care
Learn how to change your own oil, change a tire, check fluids, and troubleshoot a few common problems. Also, learn more about the auto industry: what type of regulations exist in other countries, how do gas powered engines differ from electric engines, who makes the car parts we rely on, where does most of our oil and gas come from? If you don't have any prior knowledge, this will easily be the most empowering I-Term course yet!

Engineering and Entrepreneurship: Tinker, Build, Upcycle, Design
Join the Engineering and Entrepreneurship Academy for a week of tinkering, innovating and real world problem solving. Learn how to upcycle plastic in our Plastic Makerspace, using extruders and 3D printers. Learn strategies for interior design and sustainable building techniques to finish the inside of the Tiny House with our Bulldog Builders. And, learn how to make a sword, shield, and a rocket with our expert tinkering crew!

Farm to Table
Learn how to grow, harvest, and prepare your own food in Hawaii. This course will be offered in partnership with Full Circle Farm. Participants will work at the farm each day, learning about permaculture, soil health, biodynamic farming strategies, and how to listen to nature as a teacher. Under the guidance of local chef, Alex Butterbaugh, learn to prepare delicious meals from the farm's bounty!

Finding Kamaʻāina
What does it mean to be truly kamaʻāina? Learn to listen deeply and intentionally by interviewing kupuna about their relationship with nature, their understanding of Mālama ‘Āina, and their hopes for future generations. Fully immerse in nature through a 4 day backpacking trip on O'ahu. In the end, tell the story of what it means to be kamaʻāina.

Koʻolaupoko Stewardship
Become active stewards of your ahupua'a! We will spend the week restoring native habitat at Kahana'iki, rebuilding an ancient fishpond at Nā Pōhaku, and maintaining the Maunawili Demonstration Trail. Learn about the unique ecosystems of Ko'olaupoko, build essential work habits, serve your community, and develop a deep connection to Hawai'i.

Play Craft
Play Production Work for the Kailua Onstage Arts/Le Jardin Academy collaborative production of the original play by St. John and Company, "Kicking Ass Across Time and Space to Get Back to You"--an action-packed comedy-adventure science fiction play with Reggae music. The play opens the first weekend of June and is already mostly cast. I-Term participants will be creating costumes, props, and set pieces and may help with sound design.

Sailing the Islands
Join the Makani Olu crew for another epic sailing adventure. This course is still pending final verification. We do not yet know the final price point, but expect it to be around $1200 for a five day inter-island sail. You will have the option to hold your spot in this course while still applying for another course when registration opens.

Spirit Based Landscaping & Plant Medicine

Subsistence Living
Learn to catch and prepare your own food! Students will learn to hunt pigs with a bow, properly clean and dress the animal, and cook in a traditional imu. They will also learn diving fundamentals, the basics of spearfishing, cleaning fish and preparing an 'ono meal!

Surf and Ocean Responder 101
Learn to respond to some of the gnarliest ocean conditions! Students will spend 2 days in the pool and classroom focusing on apnea and breath tactics and strategies. Then, the cohort will move to the ocean for some work in the salt water, some rock running and ocean life saving. Learn CPR, ocean lifesaving strategies, breath control and panic mitigation from big wave surfers and experts in the ocean rescue field.

Wilderness First Aid and Survival
Learn Wilderness First Aid and survival skills from certified National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) instructor. Finish the course with a WFA certification that lasts for 2 years—excellent for future adventures and job opportunities!
