What are Impact Projects?

Time within the weekly school schedule for students to engage in meaningful projects, connect with mentors, ‘āina, and community experts, and directly impact their community.

When are applications due? How do I apply?

High School: A google form will be emailed to all HS students on the 18th. You’ll have time to work on your application in Hale on the 19th. Applications are due by 11:59pm on August 21st.

Middle School: A google form will be emailed to all MS students on the 21st. You’ll have time to work on your application in Hale. Applications are due September 3rd.

When do Impact Academies Meet?

High School: High School Impact Academies meet on Wednesdays from 11-12:10pm. In semester 2, there will be some additional Impact Academy blocks from 2:20-3:30pm on Friday A days.

Middle School: Friday 2:15-3:15.

What are those icons on the catalog?

Each Impact Project can be connected to Global Citizen Diploma element. The GCD is a high school credential that recognizes the many ways in which students are growing into global citizens. LJA is part of a consortium of 8 international schools that make up the GCD Consortium Schools. Read about the different GCD elements here.

Impact Projects may also connect to one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Furthermore, it may address a specific target within the goal. Read more about the UNSDGs here.
